Cardiovascular

The hardest working muscle in your body is your HEART.  The function of the heart is to circulate blood throughout the body so that oxygen and nutrients can reach all bodily tissues.  The condition of your heart determines (in part) what activities of daily living you can perform.  Therefore, whatever your activity goals may be keeping your heart healthy needs to be a priority.

Will using a stairmaster really make my butt bigger?
There is no truth to this myth.  The reason is it is virtually impossible to substantially increase muscle mass through endurance-related cardiovascular activity.  Otherwise marathon runners would be walking around with huge thighs and if you have ever seen a marathon runner you know this doesn't happen.

What machine or exercise will help me get that flat stomach?
The simple truth is there is no such thing as efficient localized fat loss.  When you work out a specific part of your body the muscles of that area will develop and get stronger, but it will not significantly get rid of the fat in that area.  Muscle and fat are made up of different type of cells and these cells can not convert into one another.  A toned muscle is simply the visual appearance of muscle in the absence of fat.
