Flexibility

 

Flexibility training (stretching) helps your joints move through a full range of motion.  Muscular imbalances can occur as a result of bad posture or overused muscles during exercise or physical activity.  It is important to understand that there are many benefits that result from a good flexibility program such as reduced muscle soreness, reduced lower back pain, improved muscular coordination and increased blood flow which delivers more nutrients to your tissues.

What is flexibility training?
Flexibility training is performed to improve and maintain your joints full range of motion to promote good posture and bio-mechanical alignment.

How do I know if I am stretching properly?
While performing a stretch you will feel mild discomfort.  If you feel stabbing or sharp pain you are not stretching correctly.

What should I consider before starting flexibility training?
Consult with a qualified fitness professional to determine which muscles need to be included into your stretching routine.

What type of flexibility training programs are available?
